WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL ISOLATION?
Isolation of teeth and maintaining a dry field intraorally can present a challenge to clinicians. This becomes even more difficult when attempting to isolate the entire dentition (four quadrants) simultaneously.
Clinicians have often relied on appliances that prop the mouth open to provide adequate isolation and moisture control. These appliances do not allow patients to occlude their teeth into maximum intercuspation during procedures.
Xerosguard is the only appliance available that maintains isolation and moisture control. while a patient occludes their teeth – an advancement we have termed “Functional Isolation”
